return to main photo album catalog Elevator progress, more on mock-up, exterior details Photos from July 11 and 18
Not much left to do on the exterior of the building. Here a worker installs the first of the drain spouts to channel rainwater into the storm drains.
Here workers install the "alucabond" exterior panels, which are a very formable aluminum composite material. These panels aesthetically connect the BEG and connector. They are wrapped for protection during installation; some unwrapped panels are visible in the 120-degree corner to the left of the worker.
In front of the west entryway off Road A, a building sign is going up - this will identify the BEG, UTIG and TACC.
Inside the connector, workers have been busy installing the elevators. Here is the floor of the right elevator, partially raised by the hydraulic shaft while these men work on it.
The elevator machine room is behind the elevators on the third floor. These are the hydraulic pumps, which sit inside large steel holding tanks in case of a leak. A barrel of hydraulic oil is at left.
The tile workers are busy on the bathrooms on the 1st and second floor. This is one of the women's bathrooms on the first floor.
The office mock-up on the first floor is almost complete - just waiting on the carpet. Here's the door....
.....and here's the ceiling with all the tiles in.
In the stairwell, the handrails are now installed. My flash picked up a lot of dust today.
The seminar room on the first floor - these are where the rear-projection screens will go. Above note the curved ceiling detail in the framing - giving it a bit of a theater look. Not much work has progressed here because this room, being one of the larger interior spaces, is being used for storage of building materials.
Interior work is progressing well on the second floor - here is the aerogeophysical work area with a coat of paint and ceiling grid and lights installed. Note the extensive natural light entering the work area - very gratifying to see given the effort we put in to making that happen.
My office on the 3rd floor - a bit forlorn right now, but will soon be brightened when the walls are finished, the paint is put on and the windows uncovered. Next photo album.
