Foundation work: before the concrete is poured
Photos from December 15, 2005
Looking north toward the BEG: power conduits where they enter the building. To the left in the background, plumbing pipes poke out of the dirt - this is where the bathrooms will be located.
Looking east along the southern side of the building: new chilled water lines. Junction goes to the Water Resources lab south of the building (note cut preexisting line sticking out of the left side of the trench - this runs underneath the building footprint and will be removed). A temporary water chiller is keeping them air conditioned for a few weeks while work continues on the new lines.
Looking north - the chilled water lines where they enter the building. An exposed pier is just to the left.
Looking west along the north wall: construction of the grade beam, which forms the perimeter of the base of the building.
Looking east along the north wall: rebar poking out of piers. Grade beam construction will begin here soon.
