Prefinal Inspection of 2nd and 3rd floors: Almost there!!!

Photos from September 19 & 20

On these two days we conducted extensive and exhaustive "prefinal" inspections of the 2nd and 3rd floors.  These spaces are essentially finished, but need to be inspected closely for every single nick or paint blemish, which the contractors will have to fix prior to the University accepting ownership of the building.  This is our first look at the space as it will essentially look like when we occupy it.

Our first stop was my own 3rd floor work area.  That's Toby taking notes - he must have had writer's cramp after taking extensive notes for two days on every single space - and he still has the 1st floor and connector to do.

The computer workstation alcove.

Looking back toward the center of the work area from the alcove.

Lori, one of the architects, inspects some of the work area shelving with two UT physical plant guys.

Here's my office, looking toward the west wall.....

...the east wall....

...and back toward the doorway.

This is an east-west hallway....

...and this is a north-south hallway.

The coffee bar in the 3rd-floor conference room.

Workers were putting up the last white board in the conference room.  The motorized projector screen drops down from the ceiling in front of the white board to the right in this photo.  The switch for the motor is by the door.

One of our copy rooms - this on the 2nd floor.

The mail room.

This is the work area for the climate group, looking west.  In the back Paul Mason (not the vintner), from Campus Planning and Facilities Management, checks for scratches in the floor.  To the right, Ricky Williams (not the football player), checks ceiling tiles.

The climate work area, looking east.

The men's room on the 2nd floor.

This is the Director's reception area, with coffee bar.  The blue splotches on the wall are painter's tape indicating a spot that needs attention.

The Director's office.

Other parts of the building are still being worked on.  Here's a shot over the reception desk toward the elevators, where we can now see the stained maple with brushed aluminum and travertine paneling.

This view shows the main staircase between the first and second floors, which wraps around the elevators, looking down from the second floor lobby.  Travertine and maple paneling to the right.  To the left are display cases.

The plumbers are still working on the break room on the 2nd floor - considered part of the connector.

Down on the first floor, this is inside the BEG building, where the travertine tiling from the connector meets the BEG tile.

Outside, the curbs are going in for the walkway in the east courtyard entryway.

At the west entryway, the canopy has been installed.

The east parking lot is complete (half the space had been used for mobilization for a long time).  Along the perimeter live oaks have been freshly planted.  We'll get shade out of these some day.
