return to main photo album catalog Interior work; inspection of room mock-up Photos from June 20 and June 27
Lots of work has been going on in the interior. Here on the first floor, a worker on stilts is working preparing the sheet-rock for painting
Some walls get paint rolled on....
...and others get spray-painted.
The next week, in the same corridor, the paint is finished another worker on stilts (very handy, those) is installing drop-down ceiling framing.
This corridor is nearly done. Note the two colors to the paint - the darker side is considered the "accent" wall.
This room is being fully built out as a "mock-up" room, to test out paint colors, fixtures, etc. before the rest of the rooms get done. The offices get an accent wall too. This room has a thermostat next to the light switch by the door. The light switch is a motion sensor with a manual override - pretty nifty. The thermostat is adjustable (or so we are lead to believe).
The window sill is a very strong and resilient synthetic material - no coffee stains here.
Light fixtures and air vents in the ceiling. No ceiling tiles yet.
We also got to inspect tiles and grout for the entryway in the connector. Here Larry gives the test tiles a close inspection, while (left-to-right) Eric, Janet, Matt, Cliff and Toby look on.
Last week, the raised flooring was being installed in the TACC computer room.
This week it's all done.
The elevator is also being installed.
Even the hydraulic oil for the elevator has been delivered.
Up on the second floor, Cliff's lab area continues to take shape. All the sheet-rock has been installed now.
