Windows!

Photos from April 12, 2006

Windows!  The north and west sides of the west wing have their upper windows installed.  The building is only a couple weeks from being "dried in" - a major milestone indicating the full enclosure of the inside of the building.  Separation from the elements will enable a lot of the interior work to go forward.

Here is a view along the north wall, taken from inside the connector.  This (with some added landscaping) will be the courtyard view as people exit the building to the west.  The trees look to have survived the major construction activity over the winter in very good shape.

The other important activity necessary for "dry in", the exterior insulation (which precedes the brick work), is ~2/3rds done.  Here the the east wing, near the seminar room, is getting worked on.

Cinder blocks are being installed where the connector meets the BEG building.  This is a fire safety wall.

A wider view of the east side of the connector.

Much of the first floor is a rabbit warren of interior framing.  Here the offices along the west wall are taking shape.

These workers are preparing interior insulation.

Detail of some of the electrical/IT conduits and jacks.

Dry wall has been installed around the electrical room, presumably to minimize dust on the equipment.

Behind the east stairs is the 2nd air handler (see last week's photo blog).

In the TACC computer room, chilled water lines are installed in the sunken floor.  This room has its own air handling system.

Activity is also going strong on the second and third floors.  Here is the first interior framing on the third floor.
