Congratulations, Sylvia!

PhD student, Sylvia Nordfjord, with her award certificate

PhD student, Sylvia Nordfjord, received an Honorable Mention for the presentation of her work at the 2004 AAPG/SEG Student Exposition in Houston (Oct. 17-18).

The exposition was a unique tool for linking geoscience students with industry recruiters. Students benefited by presenting their work, networking, and interviewing with multiple employers while companies enjoyed cost-efficient recruiting from a diverse and talented student population.

Activities at the two-day Student Expo included a field trip and Icebreaker on Sunday, followed by a full day of poster presentations and interviews on Monday. An informal reception and awards presentation early Monday evening closed the event and provided a great opportunity to unwind and say farewell to old and new acquaintances.
