David M. Angstadt (MA, 1983) says, "I've moved out of Chevron's West Africa consulting unit in Houston to the Exploration Group of the Chevron/Kuwait Gulf Oil Joint Operation in the Kuwait/Saudi Partitioned Neutral Zone. I'm enjoying the dry crisp air of the Arabian desert versus the humidity of Houston and West Africa! I'm working here with a couple of Longhorns (it's a small world) - fellow sequence stratigrapher Mike Ye and petroleum engineer Chet Babin. The only problem with Kuwait is that it's completely flat, hardly any outcrops, and much of the subsurface is sealed off by a coating of man-made but accidental asphalt pavement over millions of acres. Have had a couple of great vacations around the ME and Mediterranean with PLENTY of geology though." (Fieldwork Photo) (Photo) (2012)

There has been a resurgence in offshore exploration using the new paradigm. (2011) (Photo)
