Carlos A. Vargas
Research Fellow
Carlos is geologist of the Universidad de Caldas in Colombia (1993) and got his PhD in Geophysics in the Technical University of Catalonya - Barcelona (2003). He is Associated Professor of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogota) and has occupied several positions in the Geologic Survey of Colombia (INGEOMINAS) and the National Hydrocarbons Agency of Colombia (ANH) where he was the Deputy Technical Director (2006-2009).
Main focus: Attenuation tomography of the NW South America
Carlos is working with Dr. Mann in the CBTH team analyzing the Panama-arc collision with the NW South American plate, the neotectonic implication and how is the answer of the lithospheric system using several geophysical variables.
