As scientific investigator on a number of projects, Larry thinks it is a great opportunity to invite teachers to participate in scientific expeditions. In 1995, Larry invited Steve Stevenoski, a high school teacher from Wisconsin Rapids, WI, join him on a survey on board the R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer in the Bransfield Strait, Antarctica. Then, in 2006, Larry invited Steve to see the other side of the globe on a trek aboard the USCG Healy in the Arctic. Steve had detailed his Arctic voyage in an on-line journal.
