Research Interests: I am a physical oceanographer who is interested in using a combination of models and data to understand the dynamics and thermodynamics of high frequency mesoscale processes such as the ocean's response to a hurricane, as well as how high frequency processes such as turbulent mixing affect lower frequency processes such as heat storage and climate. My current work focuses on understanding how well upper ocean turbulent mixing is parameterized in ocean models, and how useful data is to improve the model. It is possible that the combined uncertainty in the data and the models is too large for the data set to contain useful information.
