COURSE OVERVIEW

The course  provides students with programing skills in Fortran with emphasis on its relevance to finding solutions to problems in Geology. The course covers basic Fortran programming, subroutines and functions, basic statistics, median filters, convolution, plotting, fourier transform, least squares, finite differences and integration. The course involves weekly lab exercises,  a project due at the end of semester and a final exam. By the end of the semester student should be able to write programs that solve basic earth science problems.Course contents are available here
