To map a network drive the address is: \\utig2.ig.utexas.edu\disk_staff\flemings
Project/Data files are in /disk/staff/flemings/mking/Projects
Personal files are in /disk/staff/flemings/shannon/People/Current
On ../shannon/People/Current there is a directory called "All_Access" that each person
in the Flemings' group can access and write to
Papers relating to research can be found in ../shannon/People/All_Access/Papers

HSM - UTIG uses a digital storage system called Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM). It manages the data by "migrating" them back and forth from a large storage system (tapes) to a smaller accessible disk. The data are migrated based on parameters such as how big the file is and how often it is used. If you don't access a directory for awhile, it will be migrated, and may take a few minutes to "migrate back" to the accessible disk. If you experience a lot of problems with this, please contact tech support.

Running Remotely
Exceed (running Unix applications from the PC wirelessly and wired)
Samba (connecting from the PC directly to Unix directories)
Connecting (Wireless and VPN)

Note: If you have multiple VPN accesses through your computer, you MUST choose the correct user when logging in each time. For example, at PSU the user is GEOSC\flemings, for UTIG the user is IG\pflemings. Make sure to specify or it will not connect. To remote login to Landmark or Geolog - slogin pflemings@utig2.ig.utexas.edu. Print server is \\igdrasil.ig.utexas.edu\. To transfer files or remote login to a machine use utig1.ig.utexas.edu or web.ig.utexas.edu for SSH. To get to the web files, transfer to the folder /www/research/projects/basin on web.ig.utexas.edu. To get to the Flemings files transfer to /disk/staff/flemings on utig1.ig.utexas.edu.
