IGCP 546: Subduction Zones of the Caribbean

Thematic Session:
Advances in the tectonic evolution of the Caribbean:
A Colombian perspective

A XII Colombian Geological Congress
September 7-11, 2009

The orogenic processes and paleogeography of northern Colombia during the Mesozoic and Tertiary are closely related to the complex interations between the northern margin of South America and the Caribbean plate. We call for multidisciplinary contributions on the tectonic evolution of this region, including regional paleogeography, terrain formation and accretion, structural and metamorphic evolution, magmatic record, basin development and geophysical analysis.
