Fault terminology:

Strike
the azimuthal direction of the line of intersection of a horizontal plane with the fault plane
Trace
the line marking the intersection of the fault plane with the surface of the Earth evident only when the fault reaches the Earth's surface
Dip
the angle that a fault plane makes with a horizontal plane measured downward from horizontal
Throw
the amount of vertical displacement between like geological units on opposing sides of a fault
Foot wall
the lower wall of an inclined fault
Hanging wall
