  These gullies formed on the wall of Newton Crater.  Newton Crater is a basin that was formed over 3 billion years ago and is about 287 km (178 miles) across.  Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona that is only 1.3 km (0.8 miles) across.  Enough said.
