Recruitment
We are always open to collaborating with new JSG students and postdocs that are interested in working in the polar regions. We often have interesting field projects that involve an equal amount of experiment design, instrument deployment and data analysis. We are also interested in collaborators that use remote sensing and models to extrapolate our field results for broader applicability.Current opportunites for post-doctoral fellows include:
- Analysis and modeling of ice sheet and climate dynamics using data derived from ice-penetrating radar surveys of Antarctica. Contact Don Blankenship for more information.
- Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of glaciological remote sensing and/or modeling at the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Texas, Austin. The sucsessful candidate will be involved in field-based projects in Greenland and Antarctica aimed at understanding the interactions between polar ice sheets and the climate/ocean system using satellite observations integrated with direct measurements. Contact Ginny Catania for more information.
Current opportunites for graduate students include:
- Graduate student opportunities exist to work with Ginny Catania to understand ice sheet dynamics using a combination of remote sensing and field-based observations.
- Sean Gulick and colleagues are looking for graduate students to work on seismic imaging and interpretation and integration with ocean drilling to investigate collisional tectonics and impact cratering processes. Possible openings available for research on southeast Alaskan terrane collision and glacially-influenced orogenesis.
- Geophysical investigations of the West Antarctic
ice sheet. Contact Don Blankenship for more information.
Opportunites for participation: Please contact any of the people in our group to discuss in which research opportunites you might wish to participate.
