From Chile to Antarctica
This area will highlight our travels from Santiago to Punta Arenas. See
some of the sights on cruise to the Bransfield Strait on the research ice breaker Nathaniel B. Palmer.
The Drake Passage and Bransfield Strait:This is is the area in Antarctica where the UTIG and OSU Science Groups conducted their research. See some of the sights and learn about the equipment used to do the research.
Wildlife & Nature of Antarctica:
This is the area where your questions about animals encoutnered on the
cruise will be answered. All the images in this area were taken while
on the cruise.
Visit to Marsh Base - King George Island:
Visit the Chilean and Russian Bases on King George Island. These bases
are home to scientists and military persons and their families on a
year round basis.
The Science Party from OSU:
Meet the scientists and research assistants from Oregon State
University and Scott Borg: Director of Polar Programs. This will provide a brief overview of their work and
research on the cruise.
The Science Party from UTIG:
Meet the geophysicists and research assistants from The University of
Texas Institute for Geophysics. Learn about their research and
activities during the cruise.
Ship Life Aboard the Nathaniel B. Palmer: Get a feel for life on an icebreaker in Antarctica. In this area you will find views of the ship and the science teams and support staff at work on the ship. You will also find a mini ship tour.
Cruise Science: A general overview of the equipment and techniques used to gather data on the NB Palmer.
