UTIG Annual Awards Presented

University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) Director Terry Quinn presented $5,000 in endowed awards along with other honors on May 12 at the annual UTIG Appreciation Luncheon.

The Eleanor Picard Excellence Award for 2015 went to Tom Richter, left, standing with UTIG Director Terry Quinn.

The UTIG Research Excellence Award of $4,000 went to Peter Flemings, while the Eleanor Picard Excellence Award for $1,000 was presented to Tom Richter.

Joining the director’s Circle of Excellence Award list were Don Blankenship, Ginny Catania, Peter Flemings, Sean Gulick, Charles Jackson, Mrinal Sen, John Snedden, Krista Soderlund and Duncan Young.

Quinn presented Larry Lawver with the UTIG Career Researcher Award, while Yuko Okumura received the Outstanding Young Researcher Award.

The Outstanding Support Staff Award went to Nancy Hard and Anatoly Mironov.

Also, Staff Service Awards went to the following:  Duncan Young, 10 years; Nikki Goodfellow, 15 years; Jack Holt, 15 years; John Gerboc, 20 years; Ian Dalziel, 30 years; and Fred Taylor, 35 years.
